Curse of Backdraft (COBD), is a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG set in a medieval environment.
The first step is the creation of the character you will embody throughout the game (you will be able to play one character per server). During this creation, there are choices you will have to make: will you create a powerful Barbarian, a nimble priest, or a clever Mage? Is your character a good leader, or does he spends all his time studying the arcanes in the light of a dimly lit candle? Such choices will influence strongly what you will be able to do in the game, your failures and successes, thus they are crucial. Once your character has been created, you can start playing the game, and make the choices you are faced to. For example, you can choose to explore the land, make your character evolve (leveling up, training skills, gearing up) and hunt your enemies.
Curse of Backdraft is a game that can be played only a few minutes par day, by spending turns performing actions such as training your skills. If you wish to spend more time, you can explore the land and hunt your enemies. In all cases, be careful before you disconnect, you'd better prepare a good defense and give clever orders, because some foe could attack you while you are off- line! Player vs Player (PvP) actions are fully allowed in the game. This means you can attack, kill and loot your enemies, but this also means they will do the same to you! Playing Curse of Backdraft requires some good surviving skills. Having many friends is one of them. Probably the best advice we can give is 'united we stand tall, divided we fall'.

Game Universe
The rumors say, a long time ago, an epic fight between seven dragons illuminated the sky for days. What is known from the event is that one of them called Backdraft gained the upper hand. The six defeated dragons crashed on the ground at full blast. Lying there, they fell in a deep sleep, under the influence of the curse of Backdraft. The key of their freedom is buried inside their own dream.
The dragon has such an immense consciousness that he dreamt a world with land, water, plants, everything fitting perfectly in its own place. Then the dragon's sleep deepened... then, in the Dream appeared the first beings who received a spark of consciousness such as Elves, Imps, Orcs, Humans, Trolls, and many more.
Slowly, things changed. At different spots, randomly, some intelligent inhabitants of the Dream reached a higher status of consciousness. No one knows why these people, amongst others, became aware of the dream.
They know that one day the dragons will awake, and the Dream and all its inhabitants will cease to exist. As time goes by, this moment is nearing but, some believe that there is a way where the Dream will completely escapes the dragon and begins an independent existence.
Frantically, all the beings try to find a solution to the problem, convinced that the apocalyptic end of the Dream is near.
Game Goals
We aim for 10 000 active Players and several worlds with each a unique map and story. To get a fully success story, the project need money to get a team of developers to work on it.
Development
Usually, explaining that this game belong to the players is a cliché "this is your game". But here it's probably the closest possible concept:
* Many features are based on player's ideas. We enjoy reading and answering on forums and game chat and charring comments.
* Players help us to fix the bug and we put effort on doing it fast.
* Players are the main financial help with donations. With their efforts, we can bring the development further.
* Players help bringing new people to the game with invitation and advertising.
* Players write / imagine the story. And the developers makes their ideas come true, adapt the feature to fit their imagination.
Curse of Backdraft is not a commercial game, copy / pasted everywhere on the internet and with as new events, only marketing stuff. It's simply the opposite.
So it's really a community process and project. A common passion.
Developer's story
This project has been created by (almost) one person. That person activities have been:
* Defined an innovative project, did alone the feasibility study by comparing the existing games, taking in consideration the market tendencies. The following drivers are this one: Make a web based game, playable from any devise, based on player interaction with a rich content. The goal is to challenge the player and allow as much freedom as possible.
* Created the ergonomics and interfaces for the portal, the game and all features. He rendered the maps, the characters, the items from 3D object to obtain a unique design for this game.
* Developed 99.8% the code, the data bases structure with an important aspect: Optimisation. Curse of Backdraft is using an enormous amount of informations, but the the pages load just fast. The last 0.2% are contracts for specific pieces of code.
It's when you see the result and think "that's one person doing?" that you realise the amount of dedication it required.
