Game Universe

Drakes & Eagles is set in the years immediately after the fall of the Roman Empire. These are the years that we call the Dark Ages. Barbarians have moved into western Europe's rich provinces, and races long forgotten are emerging from the forests. Three great kings remain: Dietrich of the Goths, Etzel the Hun-King, and Anastasius the Emperor of the East Romans. These kings engage in epic battles and intrigues with each other, and because of their might, involve all other players in their quarrels. It remains to be seen which one of the three will emerge victorious or if another hero, you perhaps, will overthrow them all!

Game Goals

Having just launched a week ago, Drakes & Eagles already has 30 committed, active players. My goal is to grow this figure to 5,000 by the end of the summer and eventually to more than 10,000. As a long time player of other online strategy games, however, I want to make sure that Drakes & Eagles always maintains a rich and rewarding community experience and have designed several features to ensure high quality interactions between players.

Development

The years after the Fall of Rome have always fascinated me: they are years of great wars, of legendary victories and epic downfalls. The Goths, Huns, and Vandals are some of the well-known tribes of this era. Creating a game that could recreate the vast, heroic feel of those years, that could allow players to create their own epics, their own stories of heroism and intrigue, became my goal four years ago. Since then I taught myself programming and continually tinkered with the mechanics and features until I got them just right. Drakes & Eagles launched on May 2nd, 2011 and already has over 30 active players and is looking for more! This game is my passion and I spend much of my day on it so I can guarantee that any questions or issues will be answered very swiftly!

Developer's story

I have always loved fantasy and epic literature. A few years ago I taught myself programming and combined the two passions to create Drakes & Eagles. I am working on this game more or less full time and I find it very rewarding.

I love interacting with players and hearing their reactions to the game. I plan on adding new features on a regular basis to Drakes & Eagles to keep improving and enriching the playing experience!
