Game Universe

Players choose from a variety of different ways to make money and grow wealth. Some are peaceful and do so via trading, fishing or manufacturing. Others are more aggressive and choose to attack the peaceful traders as pirates. The most successful players combine these two as opportunity allows.

There are many secret alliances forming and breaking up that the majority of the community is not aware of (not even myself) and these have their own unique impact. There is still plenty of room however for the "lone wolf" and we have a few of those doing very well at their own schemes.

Game Goals

Minethings continues to evolve as changes are added on a regular basis and players adapt to these changes and give feedback. My goal is to grow the game's player-base while keeping the PvP aspect fun for both new and veteran players alike.

Development

This game was built from the ground-up as a game that would turn out to be both extremely addicting and yet require very little time to play. It's the sort of game I was looking for to take quick breaks in my own work schedule, yet I remained engrossed in time-consuming games that I couldn't commit to.

Shortly after coming up with the basic concept and launching an early version of the site, I quit my job to devote my full energy to this new project. I knew very little about web development but I had the basic tools needed and friends to help with the web design. In the first year I grew from 50 or so players to over 400 and now support a steady population of about 1000.

Developer's story

I've been at this for over two years now and each day I find a new challenge awaiting. There are so many things I want to do with Mine Things and it's hard to just pick one and start. Even while writing all this information about my game I'm thinking of what features/improvements I could be working on.

I get a real thrill every time I release a new feature and see how the players react. That's the best part about this job. It's also nice being able to make my own decisions about what I want to work on. I sometimes choose "fun" stuff over "practical" stuff just as a way of taking a break from some of the more tedious projects.
