FutureRP is a game based on exploration, combat, and guild rivalry. The aim of the game is to make your character the strongest, richest, and most accomplished of them all!

Players gain experience from successful attacks, completed quests, raids performed with their guild, and much more. An ever-growing number of rich and diverse environments are at their disposal, to explore and pillage.

Each place is home to unique and deadly monsters to steal treasure from, vendors selling items, and numerous quests to embark upon!

The goals are to gain enough experience to reach the leader board; to unlock the best skills; to join the most powerful guild; to possess the rarest and most deadly weapons; and to gain a degree of notoriety amongst your fellow players!

FutureRP is fortunate to have been endowed with such a helpful and loyal community, which interacts via an internal chat room, forums, and a private messaging system. New players are never short of guidance and support.

Game Universe

FutureRP is set in a dark, remote, dystopian future. Strange mechanical beings, roam the inky abyss of space; they have no concept of morality, or mercy. They exist only to bring chaos to order.

Players must ascend to positions of power and notoriety, lest they fall prey to others with similar aspirations. One must do what must be done in order to survive, whatever the consequences.

The anarchic worlds, scattered across the stars, are home to an eclectic mix of strange environments, and even stranger monsters. Players must explore, to discover new skills, more powerful weapons, and forge alliances with others for their mutual benefit.

Game Goals

The goal is to exceed 10,000 active players each month, and to continue to expand the amount of game content to explore. Players now have the ability to create content of their own, so the future direction of the game is in their hands!

Development

Having played a number of similar games in the past, I was inspired to create FutureRP - which would be of the science fiction genre, rather than being about gangsters - with a great emphasis on the community aspect.

The game has taken several years to reach the this point. I have been the sole developer since its conception - something which fills me with a great sense of achievement, but also the realisation that it would have taken less time, had I found someone else to help!

When I initially began work on FutureRP, I was still in my last few years of high school, and was somewhat inexperienced at programming in general. The game went through a number of evolutions across various languages, until I settled upon PHP.

The first few of years of development were quite a learning experience. The game was rewritten on numerous occasions, and the work was intermittent, due to school work. Eventually, near the end of my school life, the game reached a point where it was relatively robust, and started receiving international traffic.

It was very exciting and was the catalyst for me taking the project seriously. It has since continued to evolve and mature, and I look forward to finding out what the future holds for FutureRP!

Developer's story

Having played a number of similar games in the past, I was inspired to create FutureRP. The project has taken several years of my life, starting in the last few years of high school. It continues to occupy a lot of my time, but the benefits are vast.

It is a pleasure to be able to speak to players from all over the world; the overwhelming majority are very polite, well-spoken people. It really is a great community, and one without which, I never would have gotten this far!
