You select nation where you will start playing (Earth, Fire, Water, Wind). You start as student. During the game you can level/rank up and become stronger. Highest rank is Bending master. You can even try how strong you are and challenge NPC nation leader. If you defeat him you take his position and rule your nation. As leader you can declare war to other nation or try to make alliance.
