Ars Regendi is a nation building game where the players can rule an own state, which is realistically simulated in a complex formula system, referring to economical theories. The virtual regents have to decide on political issues of all kinds, and can form their state according to their own political ideas. Now it is also possible to join small worlds and interact with the other states, from trading up to nuclear strikes.

Game Universe

As a new feature we now added the "worlds". They simulate realistically our own earth. So up to 100 players can join each world and become the leaders of different states. According to the experience points in the game, the can lead a mighty superpower or get the feeling for how it is to reign over a developing country. They all have at least one common target: take care for the worlds' environment!

Game Goals

The first and most important goal for me as a developer: make people think more and deeper about politics and economics. Ars Regendi critically looks at the real-life politics and also offers a wide range of alternative concepts. For the players, the goal is either to stay at power as long as possible, or make your people as happy as you can.

Development

I wondered if it was possible to create and publish an economical model of a real state like Germany. So I tried beginning with an Excel sheet and combined about 200 categories from education up to public expenses for defense with formulas. Also, political changes should be computed. After a very long while, also spent with studying economics and political issues, it worked very good. I decided to find a programmer as partner in order to publish the simulation as a browser-based game. And give everybody the opportunity to find out how his own poilitical ideas would influence a simulated state.

Developer's story

As an passionate strategy and simulations gamers I was also involved in the studies of philosophy and economics. Ars Regendi tries to combine all that knowledge in a creative and unique online game.
