Game Universe

The game is set in a fantasy world, where the pansy king Placidius has his crown and kingdom stolen by an evil necromancer. Not only has the land been overrun with monsters, but the necromancer has also placed such high taxes on the townspeople.

Why has the necromancer placed such high taxes on the people? What is the meaning of higher resolution? And will King Placidius' bath every be warm again? Find out these and more in this fun filled parody RPG.

Game Goals

My goal for this game was to make a small game that was easy and fun to play, working in most browsers without any required plugins. It's a parody, so it's meant to poke fun at a variety of games and movies. My only real goal is to get as many people to play the game as possible, and perhaps even expand upon the game and make new games with the javascript game engine.

Development

I started this game project wanting to make something small that I could actually finish in a matter of a few weeks. It ended up taking longer than that, but I still completed it in a small timeframe.

The game is written almost entirely in Javascript and will run in most javascript enabled browsers - the only exception is that the music and sound use a small java applet (if you don't have java installed, it will just run without music).

I ended up writing an entire tactics rpg engine in javascript with a world builder and some utilities to finish the game. I have released this engine for free as open source software that you can download on the website.

I had fun working on this project, and I'm hoping that others will find it fun and enjoyable, and maybe even try to make their own games with the javascript engine.

Developer's story

I'm a graphics researcher (I research how to make computers render scenes better and more efficiently), but in my free time I still enjoy making games as a hobby. I have worked on several games, finished a few, and am glad to have Shadow of Time 4 as another finished game under my belt. I make games entirely as a hobby, for fun and free, and enjoy making both 2D and 3D games.

I always have a lot of games that I am working on or planning to work on, so I usually am not able to take on a new game project, but if you have a good idea, by all means send it by me, and if it interests me, I can certainly help out.
