Sea Wars is a RTS mixed with a naval game. You cannot see the enemies until you detect them, and they cannot see you until they detect you. Will you use your active sonar, and give away your position, but detect whatever lies in front of you? Will you ask your units to fight at will, or will you command them when needed? You might not manage everything at first, but the possibilities are almost endless, and your actions definitively make a difference.

Game Universe

Three continents, several islands, three main alliances. One declared war, and the two others fight together. You control both, but one is yours, when the other might change side... The war is upon you, and will be fight in the seas.

Game Goals

Sea Wars is a base for other online RTS game. I want to perfect it so a lot of persons can enjoy it, but I also would like to see the code used to fork variations of it, and create a collection of original RTS.

Development

I like playing classical RTS such as Age of Empire, Battle for Middle Earth, Stronghold, ... But I also like to play naval game, "on the map", like Silent Hunter III and IV, Dangerous Water, and appreciate the hunts in them: you have to find the enemy before he finds you.

Sea-Wars is so a mix between a RTS and a naval "simulation". The simulation aspect went away, but the game view is like a map in this game. Everything happens in real-time, and with or without you, they will fight. But you have to give orders, so your boats will not only fight, but also win...
Written in Java, with a score system in PHP (so you can save your scores even behind a firewall), it uses PulpCore for a rendering of thousand of elements, boats, torpedoes, clouds, explosions, smoke, using particles, composites objects, layers, effects.

Sea Wars has been launch, but is still a work in progress. It is a technical achievement, with sometimes more than 8000 units on screen (and then you need a strong computer), sound and music. Then it is a complex game, and it must evolve to find its own marks, eventually by being split between several different games.

Developer's story

After developing the Treasures Chests, a GPS-based game for Android, I wanted to create a technically advance game, with a game engine, so I could develop several other games based on it. Sea Wars is this game, my current work in progress... It will already help to rewrite the giant ball, which should benefits of the very fast 2D capabilities of pulpcore.
