Capture The Flag follows a widescale game of the same name, pitting two teams against eachother in a series of maps that dynamically rotate based on the current score. While the only means of scoring for their team is by returning the enemy's flag to their base, players are also rewarded for capturing strategic radio towers and reviving their dead teammates, allowing them to better their character's skills. The game also features an automated weather system and a constantly-improving graphical user-interface which stays true to oldschool text-based roleplaying games.

Game Universe

The game is set within the fictional, abandoned county of Ohono, which is approximately 625 square acres of urban, suburban, and rural communities. Other features include a state forest, a small mountain range, and a river that splits the county in half.

Following a nasty feud between the two warring factions (of which the players choose to follow), the county's civilized inhabitants decided to pack their bags before the area collapsed into social turmoil. Capturing the flag is merely a metaphor for this inter-county struggle.

Game Goals

To achieve an active and competitive playerbase. Eventually there will be several maps on rotation, which will change after teams reach the capture limit.

Development

Following a gaming binge, inspiration was born through a mental list of desirable and undesirable qualities.The game and its development tools were coded from scratch in notepad, essentially involving countless sleepless nights and missed university classes. Now officially released, it requires active players to prolong its life.

Developer's story

I have no experience whatsoever. I taught myself PHP and MySQL alongside programming this game. Suffice to say, I learned my trade quickly and look forward to bettering it as the system attracts more of an audience.
