Game Universe
The game universe is the professional real life tennis circuit. From junior tournaments, through futures, challengers to Grand Slams, we have taken pain in copying the real life tennis tournaments to the greatest detail, even including the major changes made in 2009.
Game Goals
After less than a year, Rocking Rackets is probably the largest online tennis manager game, but it is not to be compared yet with the big games in other sports. The reason might be that since tennis is not a team sport it is harder to make a good manager game for it but we believe that Rocking Rackets has found a way to do this. Our goal is to keep growing and put tennis on the list of sports that players of manager games pay attention to.
Development
The idea of Rocking Rackets has been building up even before I knew how to program, the first ideas might be nearly 10 years old, though the first letter of code was written a little more than a year ago. I was a tennis fan and liked the tournament system in professional tennis, but only recently managed to translate this to a fun manager game.
The general idea was to include all the aspects of the professional tennis circuit that are important for the achievements of players, like aging, fatigue and gaining experience, while leaving out the things that don't matter, like sponsors, shoes and money management. And of course, the tournament calendar, ranking and points had to correspond to the real one.
Developer's story
During my study of computer science I made another game (www.lastknights.com) and ended up spending more time on it than on my study, learning a lot about programming along the way. After my study I got a regular job, but I still want to try if I can make a living out of developing internet games. I teamed up with a friend to make our own company and Rocking Rackets is its first creation.
