1. Good Concept, Poor Execution - by love2laugh Rating: 1.6/10
The documentation is not reflective of the current manifestation of the game. The game forum is about as lively as a graveyard at midnight. That's probably an overestimate now that I think about graveyards. There are very few players and they seem to be happy that way. They have good features to help the new player but again poor execution. Their mentor system is dismal at best. If you get the joy of actually being assigned a mentor, they will probably be more interested in getting you to join their guild then helping you learn the game. They have a guild system that limits the number of vets unless they get new players into the guild. This concept again is poorly thought out. The vets want you in their guild only so they can get more vets to join, while they leave you out to dry. You can find a few nice players such as: razorblade, startroll, mr. lee, and a few others. Learning the game is very difficult. You get 300 turns to do whatever you want without being attacked. This is about a day worth of turns. The problem is you have no idea what you are doing so can use turns quickly on things you shouldn't. They give you an almost non-existent army to start allowing your hero you picked when you created the mage to die as soon as you are attacked. With poor documentation and very little help you are left at the mercy of those players that will use you to get land so they can get in the top ranks. The developer continues to make changes and move things around while you play. One day you'll login and the manacharge button will be obvious on the left frame, the next day you login it will have disappeared and you have to figure out where it went. This is just another example of poor execution. They have a development server but seem to use their play servers as active beta testing servers. This would be fine in a game that never ends but this game has what they call a havoc that would allow the developer to implement changes between sets. Havoc is where the game resets every so many days 60-90 seems to be the interval. So during this reset that takes a day or two all the changes that had been worked out on their development server could be implemented. Instead you are always logging in to something different which becomes nerve racking. If the developer could improve the execution of many of the facets of the game it could end up being a good game. The sad part is that when you delve through the forum, you'll find that this is the status quo. The developer does things on a whim, the same players always are in the top ranks, and people leave the game. Browser Games like these are perfect for people that are on slower connections or older machines. There is still a viable market for them. I just can't recommend this game as being one to try. There are plenty of browser games out there that are worth your time.
