Game Universe
Celonia is an Island in the Great Ring, previously a beautiful island where the Great Races lived in peace and harmony. During the uprising however, the evil Goddess Kalista sent minions to destroy and kill the inhabitants. Several hundred years later, the humans return to the surface to find the Great Races have taken over. Players must choose one of the Five Gods to follow, in order that they can rid the Island of the monsters and return it to safety and harmony.
Game Goals
My goal for OD, is to create a game where people can create a unique character. The fight system is such, that there is no 'one way' to be unbeatable. Alongside this, the game has a huge amount of achievements that can be earned in-game, which adds to the addiction!
Development
I used to play Planetarion (and thought it could be better run) - this was a very long time ago, in the days it was free to play. Sometime after that, I started playing Marcoland and ended up being admin for (what I personally believe) was the most successful period of the game's history. I never agreed with how the owner ran the game however, and so decided to write my own.
I designed Opus Deorum (OD) with the thought that a player should be able to login and wonder what had happened while he/she had been away. I wanted a game where a player could affect the game by his actions. Players can lead their own team, can rise to become High Priest of one of the five religions, run a town, or just kick ass in the hourly PvPvM fights.
OD has now been live for almost a full year, and without any advertising (except for toplists such as this one) has grown to have 275 players. The community is very friendly, the chat room is busy and everyone is always suggesting ways to improve the game.
The greatest asset that OD has, is its crop of players, who are willing to help new players and suggest ways that I can improve the game as I go along, most of them are also very experienced in these types of games.
Developer's story
I've been coding for over 25 years (hobby and professionally) and have always wanted to write a game. I started in January 2008, when I decided to teach myself PHP, XHTML, CSS and mySQL. From that beginning, used a shared PC in the lobby of a Sydney hotel - OD was born.

1. Amazing - by Vyse10 Rating: 9/10
Great game. I've been playing since just a few days after it went live( so i've been playing for about a year.) and it still just gets better and better. The players are always willing to help new players and the coder is very active and is always willing to answer your questions. He even shows up in the chat room at least once every day for a little bit. It is always being updated. Hands down this is by far my favorite text based RPG and in my eyes the best one that there is right now. I give Opus Deorum 5 stars. ;)

2. Love It - by Vyse10 Rating: 9.2/10
The game is great. The players are really friendly and are always willing to help new players learn the ropes. I've been playing for almost a year ( a little after the game went live) and I still love it. The coder is always available, active, willing to listen, and he shows up in chat at least once every day for a while. There are always updates being made and the game just keeps getting better and better. I used to play Marcoland and The Lost Realm every day but now I login to Marcoland for maybe five minutes and I quit playing the lost realm because Opus Deorum is way better and I would rather play OD than any other text based game. I give Opus Deorum 5 stars. ;)
