Horse Isle is a Flash browser based huge online horse world. There are many islands to explore and characters to meet and do jobs, or quests, for. Players can find wild horses, train, compete and care for them. There are mini-games throughout the world. Some can be played with other players.

There is live chat that is filtered to help keep the world friendly for all ages. There are also hand-picked moderators, whose job it is to help be sure the players all follow the rules. So, players can not only interact with their horses, but with other players from all over the world, in a safe environment.

Game Universe

Horse Isle has no overarching story. Essentially players capture, or buy and sell horses, care for them, do quests, interact with others, etc.

Game Goals

Our main goal is for people to enjoy the game and learn. There are many educational aspects to the game, so we hope that those playing it learn, whether they are realizing it or not.

Development

We noticed there were very few horse games out there where the player could actually walk around the world. Most were web page based. We decided to build a game where players could interact with each other and their horses and Adobe Flash was the best way to do so.

Developer's story

Horse Isle was envisioned and designed by Joe and Miranda Durbin. Miranda grew up loving horses. Joe grew up loving to work with computers and wanted to start his own company. They noticed that there weren't many games out there for horse lovers that were in depth, challenging, and more involved than simple web pages. So together they created Horse Isle. Artists from around the world joined the project and contributed artwork, writing, and music. Miranda and Joe's family also pitched in. Mothers, sisters, and cousins started helping with beta testing, island design, character and quest creation. Now that the game has gone live many people help with continued development and moderating the game to be sure that Horse Isle continues to be a safe and fun place for everyone.

    I highly recommend this game. I've been an avid gamer for almost 15 years and I've seen them all -- the good, the bad. I've seen them come and go. Horse Isle is one of a kind. With over 30,000 active members and multiple servers, this 2D world is ever-expanding. It is easy to earn money in the game with quests, the ability to sell items/horses, and more. You virtually wander around looking for elusive wild horses that you can capture, train, compete, feed, groom, and care for. There are updates adding new breeds and quests nearly every two weeks so you stay hooked and always have something to do. And everyone is anticipating the coming release of Horse Isle 2 which is promised to be an even greater experience. I've rated the community at an 8 because you are dealing with everyone from 7-8 years, on up to 50-60 years and sometimes the age difference is harder for some people to take. I, however, have no problem with it and the site is moderated well. Included is a language filter so parents can feel safe letting their younger children play. So come try the game out!
