PsyPets is a pet game that is based not on minigames and money, but on the development and growth of your pets.
Pets perform many actions on their own, from defeating monsters, to gathering food, to creating vases, pillows, chandeliers, swords, and laser guns. (There are over 1500 items.) As they do so, they gain experience points, and eventually level up, increasing their skills with your guidance.

Game Universe
PsyPets is set in the modern world, with sci-fi and fantasy twists. Players are residents of a scientific community studying the "hollow earth", and the strange creatures that live within, called by their discoverers PsyPets.
Game Goals
Your goals are my goals. I'm happy to implement whatever random idea enters my or your head. There is a Wishlist where players can submit ideas and vote on them, and the development of monthly (paid) items are built with player input. New pet graphics and recipes are also often inspired by player suggestion.
Development
During college I wanted to learn PHP and MySQL, and the most natural way to do so for me (as classes were not offered) was to try to program a game.
I never imagined PsyPets would become a full-fledged game that people around the world would play, but with input from my friends, their family, and eventually people I didn't even know, PsyPets has become what it is today.
Developer's story
I have always been a game developer, since I was little. I'd draw out my own levels for platform games on paper in elementary school, and my friends and I played a version of hide-and-seek with new rules added every time we played.
I also learned to program during elementary school - BASIC on Apple IIe computers - and have been coding and learning new languages since, by taking extra classes during high-school summers, or by finding tutorials and references on-line.
Of course, making games and programming mix wonderfully, and I've created many games that way, most incomplete, many embarrassing :) PsyPets was one of my first real, complete games, and I've had fun keeping it going all these years.
