Game: Eagle Legend

Eagle Legend: The legend so far

It has been an a very interesting two years for Eagle Legend, in the beginning there was ideas galore, how Eagle Legend become the game to play, but it had many pitfalls that caused it to repeatedly come and go, allow me to explain.

The owner, Mark Richardson, who was about 15 in the early beginnings had more ideas than funding for the game to get off with a good start and what made things worse was he never set up any good revenue system, for the game to earn its money back, and it begged users for donations which was not good.

Marketing was not too bad, word of mouth and Apex Web Gaming chipping a few people in every day, but it was not enough, luckily Mark had found an upcoming singer Hannah Scott, who happily went onto a radio and promoted the site, in the first month, January, that brought over 300 users, but still that was not enough.

Over the next couple of months Mark had repeatedly tried to keep Eagle Legend flying with no income coming in himself or from the site, so that meant the site was beginning to constantly come and go at a very short period of time, each time it was back.

The original artist Bailey (better known as Jade for that was her user name on the site) was a great help, and a couple of times, Mark had lost the art that she previously made for the site for free and she would give him the art again – the reason for him loosing the art in the first place is unknown.

During the early months of 2009 Mark had sold off Eagle Legend on ebay, hoping that someone else would take it on and let the site flourish and hopefully made his financial status better – how wrong was he.

Eagle Legend sold for £2.90 then became just a parked domain for many months, whilst Mark was forever emailing the new owner to buy it back, unfortunately he had to pay £100 in order to buy it from the temporary owner. Perhaps if he had accepted the previous offer from Nintendo, would that have been a different story?

Some people may think why would someone pay so much money just for a site, well, deep down Mark had love and dedication to his baby, metaphorically, the site and he soon realised that when he sold it, so he had to get it back.

Since buying it back, back in December last year, the site has not been up, however ideas have been floating around as to what to do with it. Luckily the site has now got the funding that ALL the ideas that were hoped would make the site a completely new and unique site and not a copy from known big companies will in fact become a reality, I guess two years is a long time to wait, but it was well deserved the wait.

What will make the new upcoming Eagle Legend so different to before? Well unfortunately due to Mark loosing the art, once again, the original artist having forgotten about the site due to medical reasons, it means it is a call for a whole new Eagle Legend, with completely new pets that can do more than just sit there and bore the living daylights out of you seeing the same picture over and over – more details will be shared once the new site has been released for copyright issues.

New items, layout and of course all the original ideas that never seemed to show originally, so if any of the original users are still there and see that, I believe that will definitely put a smile on their faces!

Another noticeable difference will be all the programmers and artists will be paid, so that hopefully that should bring a much higher quality game, that still will be free, but there will be new revenue ideas which will definitely pay the programmers and artists for completely new content.

Now advertising, how will Mark do that? Unlike before Mark will be thinking outside the box – literately, sure there would be word of mouth, and also referrals like most sites, but the ideas Mark has? Well all I can say get ready for a bigger, better and much more popular virtual pet site coming to screens near you soon!

I think one of your advertisements caused my internet browser to resize, you might want to put that on your blacklist.
