...on a petsite at least. As far as I know. o-o I've been working quite hard on a “top secret” project which was just released for Petgamer.com - Personas. Now players can choose a persona to represent them, drow, elf, or human. Humans come in 54 total color variations (27 male/27 female), in the future there will be more options as clothing and hairstyles go. Our gold members will have even more customizability. This is only the beginning. It was a lot of work and there's even more to do, but at least all of the basic options are now available. Our biggest challenge is that because we don't have any kind of “doll” code, each color variation has to be edited and saved as a seperate image file. If anyone knows how to code this and would like to offer their services to help our site, it would be greatly appreciated. That's all from me, it's way past my bed time anyway. xD Seeya.
Err, no, Neopets definitely does not have this features. These are not avatars, they are personas. Full sized people that come in various skin tones, with 3 hair and eye colors.
It's something that Jinopets 2 has been planning and working on for months. ._. Since March actually. It's a cool idea... but I think you kind of released it too early, all I see that you can do is pick a persona race and choose hair/eye/skin color. In my honest opinion, I think you guys should have waited a bit until you had more done on it to release it. -shrug- That's just my opinion though. ^^
well...It's not exactly the most creative as there are many people who have thought of the idea already. It's kinda cool, but soon, everyones going to have it. But if you're willing to do all the work regardless, good luck to you.
dragon, unlike Jinopets 2, we are an existing site so we don't have the leisure of taking our time on projects. We have to get them done the best we can. I don't think we could have done more to this at the moment, as I said. Believe it or not, 60 images of that size is a lot, and the only thing I could have done for basic personas to give them more variety would be different bodies or faces, which would be a lot of tedious work that wouldn't really be noticed. We can release more options for the personas with time and it gives the users something to look forward too. We would be able to do a whole lot more with some type of doll code, but frankly we don't have one. The advanced customization will be open to our gold members/donors for now. I can't wait to see how you guys at Jino2 come out with this type of thing also though.
Hmm, didn't Zetapets have something like this? It's been a while, but I vaugely remember them having a feature like this on user-lookups... it's a nice idea though, slashersivi, and you seem to be adding a lot of unique characteristics to the images =P
Jinopets 2 already has this programmed into it and is one of our main features we have been talking about since may =]. The programming for this is done, we are simply adding more art to it though.
We already have had images of built customizable charaters.
Oh, btw, that is why we are pretty much not discussing anymore of our new stuff - other pets sites are trying to use them before we open j2 so they can say they did it first, even if we had the programming done and the stuff running months ago.
